WOODS SWEEPS OUTAGAMIE MODS, MROCZKOWSKI, DIEFENTHALER, SCHMIDT & BOOTH ALSO FEATURE WINNERS
ATTENTION SPORTS/MOTORSPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(SEYMOUR, WI) Aug. 1 – Beaver Dam's Skylar Woods motored around Kevin Feck for the lead on the second lap and was never headed as he won the Professional Plating Inc IMCA modified feature at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday.
Woods also won his heat race, sweeping the action in that division for the evening. Krakow's Josh Mroczkowski captured the Monroe Truck Equipment / K&E Sales IMCA stock car main event while Hortonville's Ryan Schmidt scored a thrilling, last lap pass to win the Trailer Express LLC IMCA northern sportmod main.\
Manitowoc's Paul Diefenthaler captured the Vetting Customs Rigs & Rides Unified dirt street stock feature while Oshkosh's Cody Booth swept action in the MEDALS IMCA sport compacts.
In the modified main, Woods started fourth in the 20 lap contest. The Beaver Dam Ace kept all challengers at bay, including former track champion Johnny Whitman, who closed the gap on Woods in the final laps and kept things interesting. Whitman would wind up settling for second place, followed by West Bend's Matt Klenz, Clintonville's Jason Ebert and Antigo's Dylon Waldvogel.
Mroczkowski started behind polesitter and former IMCA stock car national champion Travis Van Straten in the IMCA stock car main. The Krakow driver kept within striking distance of Van Straten, hustling along the high line. Mroczkowski stormed past Van Straten for the lead on lap nine and never looked back. Van Straten took second place, followed by 2024 IMCA stock car Wisconsin state champion Jesse Krahn of Beaver Dam; former national champ Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski and Shawano's Trent Nolan.
J.J. Vander Loop was well on his way to win the IMCA northern sportmod feature. The “Red Rocket” sped into the lead at the drop of the green and immediately built up a sizable cushion over the field. Even through numerous restarts, Vander Loop picked up where he left off with each restart.
Schmidt started in row seven, and picked his way through the field, working his way up into the top five by lap 10. The Hortonville driver slowly began chopping away at Vander Loop's margin, closing to within a car length on the white flag lap. Schmidt sailed past Vander Loop coming out of turn four as the checkers flew. Vander Loop hung on for second place, followed by Cole Slezewski, Caden Besaw and Max Oreskovich.
Diefenthaler survived a late race surge by Trey Van Straten in the waning laps to secure the street stock victory. Booth's win the IMCA sport compacts was marred by a pair of red flags, spurred by two violent rollovers.
The first incident involved Kyle Jorgenson, who snap rolled his mount on the frontstretch. In the second melee, Bonduel's Clint Malueg barrel rolled his car several times after making contact with another racer. Both drivers emerged unscathed, but their machines suffered significant damage.
Rapid River, Michigan's Derek LeBresh scored the Vintage Modified feature win.
Next Friday, August 8, The Reel Shot will sponsor the night's action, with a $1,000 top prize awarded to the winner of the IMCA northern sportmod feature. Laote models will also be in action. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. For additional information, you can follow our Facebook page or check out our website outagamiespeedway.com.
