As the calendar flipped from June to July temperatures rose and so did the excitement at Outagamie Speedway. With 120 cars signed in to the pits the fireworks on the track were certain to be more exciting than any in the sky as drivers and fans alike gathered to celebrate our freedoms dirt track style.
The Seubert Calf Ranches Late Model feature saw Jayden Schmidt grab control of the race at the drop of the green. Point leader, Mighty Mike Mullen, saw his chances for three feature wins in a row evaporate as the mechanical issues that dogged him in the heat race followed the 99 machine into feature. With Mullen retired there was one less car for Schmidt to hold off. Schmidt was able to fend off a charge from Justin Schmidt to capture his first feature win of the year at Outagamie Speedway. Justin Schmidt held on for 2nd, Paul Parker 3rd, Justin Richie 4th, and Brett Swedberg 5th.
The Professional Plating IMCA Modified A Main had Cody Schroeder lead the opening lap from the front row. That lead was short lived as Skyler Woods shot to the high side on lap 2 and rocketed into the top spot. Woods was able to hold off all comers over the balance of the race and secured his 2nd consecutive win. Schroeder was 2nd, Dylan Waldvogel 3rd, Greg Gretz 4th, and The Hitman, Johnny Whitman completed the top 5.
Dylan “Freight Train” Stedjee pulled away from the field at the drop of the green from his pole position starting spot. Jerry Wilinski quickly found an advantage on the low side and worked around Wyatt Blashe into 2nd on lap 3. Yellow flags marred the event until the final caution of the night came with 5 laps to go as contact occurred between Wilinski and Stedjee as the pair battled for the lead and sent Stedjee into the spin cycle. Track officials called Wilinski for the yellow and Stedjee regained the top spot for the restart. Stedjee would have to contend with the new second place car of Jerry Leary who was the first to tiptoe to the topside and was part of the three car battle for the lead before the caution. Stedjee Went from running the bottom groove to the highside himself and held on to nab the win. Hot Rod Snellenberger managed to claim 2nd at the checkers, point leader Brett Wenzel came home 3rd, Leary shuffled to 4th in the closing lap, and Kegan Van Ooyen capped off a solid night with a 5th place finish.
The Trailer Express IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature event kicked off with Jordan Endries jumping to the lead on the opening lap. Dylan Schmidt shot from 7th to 2nd by lap 2. Lap 3 saw Schmidt power into the lead and his chances of winning two in a row looked solid. Caution waved with 6 laps accounted for and saw Schmidt lead JJ Vanderloop, Coy Vlies, Max Oreskovich, and Endries back to racing speeds. Vanderloop snuck by the leader on lap 9 and Vlies moved into 2nd on lap 15. Vlies closed on Vanderloop but the checkers flew before he could mount a serious charge on the leader. Vanderloop grabbed the double checkers, Vlies was 2nd, Dylan Schmidt 3rd, Ryan Schmidt 4th, and Oreskovich 5th.
The Vettings Customs Rigs and Rides Unified Dirt Street Stock A Main event had Derek Schrauth pace the early laps until The Dominator, Paul Diefenthaler, muscled by on the bottom side on lap 3. Trey Van Straten sliced through the field and was running 2nd by the halfway mark after rolling off the starting grid 9th. Lap 16 saw Van Straten steal the lead away from Diefenthaler. The night got worse for the 2nd place runner as Diefenthaler’s 35X machine let loose a massive cloud of smoke and came to a rest just outside of turn 3. Van Straten was able to hold off the field after the restart and hung on for his second win in a row. Jacob Ambrosious capped off a strong night with a 2nd place finish, Josh McDonald 3rd, Paul Ambrosious 4th, and Roman Blank closed out the top 5.
The Midwest Equipment Dock and Lift Service IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Clint Malueg lead the opening 8 laps until caution slowed the event. Malueg’s 22 machine struggled to get up to speed on the restart and Ricky Kaufert took advantage to grab the lead. Kaufert led the rest of the way to capture the win. TJ Everard was 2nd, Al Cottrell 3rd, Bo White 4th, and point leader, Cody Booth, overcame a night of struggles to finish 5th.
Outagamie Speedway powered by Klink Equipment & Elite Coatings is back in action next Friday night, July 11th, with our regular weekly divisions featuring $1000 to win for the IMCA Modifieds.
