WHITMAN SHADES SCHMIDT, SCORES OUTAGAMIE IMCA MOD GO

ATTENTION SPORTS/MOTORSPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(SEYMOUR, WI) May 15 - Suamico's Johnny Whitman snatched the lead on lap ten and fended off a hard-charging Jayden Schmidt to win the ARNESON WELL DRILLING IMCA modified feature at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday.

Whitman started eighth on the grid at the drop of the green in the 20 lap contest. Hometown driver Konnor Wilinski blasted into a big lead early from his pole position. The second-generation had quickly built up a full straightaway margin in the first four circuits.

Wilinski had already begun sifting his way through lapped traffic by lap eight. Whitman had sliced his way through the pack, grabbing the runnerup spot by lap seven. After a lap nine restart following a caution, Whitman whisked by Wilinski to take the top spot at the event's halfway point.
Meanwhile Schmidt, who started dead last in the field, began picking off cars one-by-one, reaching the runnerup spot by lap eleven, and storming past Whitman for the lead on lap 12.
The duo ran door-to-door for the next several laps, swapping the lead. Whitman was able to muscle his way by Schmidt to secure the lead on the final circuit, and survive with the "W." Schmidt came up second at the pay window, followed by Beaver Dam' Dan Roedl, Wilinski and James Fletcher.

Shawano's Trent Nolan emerged triumphant in the MONROE TRUCK EQUIPMENT IMCA stock car main, following a see-saw battle where he and Pulaski's Jeff Kropp swapped the lead a number of times.

Kropp jumped into the lead from the pole position, and kept that position through an early yellow flag period, surrendering the lead to Travis Van Straten on lap four. Van Straten, a former IMCA national stock car champion, executed a three-wide pass. By the halfway point, Kropp had kept within striking distance of Van Straten, and former track champion Brett Wenzel joined the chase for the lead, setting up a three-car scrum for the lead.

By lap 11, Kropp repassed Van Straten for the lead, while Nolan, who had been running in the top five the entire contest, slipped into the lead using the bottom groove on lap 14. Wenzel continued to hound Nolan in the final circuits, but the Shawano Ace scored the victory. Wenzel took the bridesmaid spot, followed by Kropp, Presley Harrington and Jerry Wilinski.

Clintonville's Max Oreskovich passed Tanner Pari for the lead on lap three and went on to win the TRAILER EXPRESS IMCA northern sportmod feature.
Pari sprinted into the lead from the front row when the feature got underway. Oreskovich had just grabbed the lead when a lap five amber flew, tightening up the field.

On the restart, Tyler DeMars shot into the runnerup spot, and tried keeping Oreskovich in his sights. Oreskovich had built up a comfortable, nearly full straightaway lead by lap ten. Oreskovich scored the win, followed by DeMars, Owen Wilcox, Jordan Jahnke and Mitchell Fairbanks.

The caution free VETTING CUSTOMS RIGS & RIDES Unified Dirt Street Stock main was a family affair for the Diefenthalers. Paul Diefenthaler passed his daughter Brooke for the lead with three laps remaining to score the win. Brooke hung on for second. Jacob Ambrosius, Trey Van Straten and Paul Ambrosius took third through fifth, respectively.

Kaukauna's Thomas Schulte passed Al Cottrell for the lead with two circuits remaining to win the IMCA sport compact feature.

Racing resumes Friday night, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. It is Police, Fire & EMS night at the races. All first responders receive free admission with I.D. The IMCA stock car class will battle for a $1,000 top prize. For more information check out our website outagamiespeedway.com or check out our Facebook page.
